Greater Challenges In The Rehabilitation Work
- Creating alternative employment opportunities to
the fisher folk using the construction activity, especially to
youth has not proved successful.
- Breaking the traditional fisher-folk fish catch and the
market linkage to gain more value for the catch has not taken
place.
- Introducing more value added steps in the fish catch
process and sales also has not been initiated so far.
Inclusive approach, the systems and programmes
are yet to be grounded fully to take care of other peripheral
communities with similar economic status.
- Getting land allotment in many places for shelter
development is hard.
- In-situ construction is another problem, as more land
holders are not ready to part with their lands for a small
house with 1800 sq.ft. Land.
- The November / December 2005 rains caused
great havoc both in the natural front and in labour
deployment.
- Shortage of building materials and manpower is yet
another challenge.
- Getting the local families involved in construction
work is also a problem.
PARTNERS & FINANCE : DPG has received financial
assistance during the initial months in 2005 for the entire

and from ACCU for micro finance support. DPG also received
