INTRODUCTION

Founded in 1986, development Promotion Group (DSP) Supports Social development among women, children and neglected minorities in South India. Most of the dpgs activities are functional in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with a smaller presence in Andrapradesh. Women’s Empowerment, Watershed development, Sanitation, housing and education form the crux of DPG’s projects, which are both rural and urban in nature. Since2000, DPG has also begun an active role in the provision of micro credit facilities.

DPG’s operational strategy has evolved in to one that promotes the formation of microlevel institution to implement and sustain development projects. DPG works with local communities, other Ngo’s and the government in a participatory manner. DPG is accredited as an “Ngo in Consultative status with the economic and social council of the United nations”

Eradication of poverty by empowering peoples institutions to undertake need-based interventions.

MISSION

Assisting community based Organisation (CBOs) Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in generating awareness of the causes of local problems, creating conditions for their resolutions and thereby facilitating a general improvement in the quality of life.

OBJECTIVES

  • To implement development programmes with a focus on watershed development, housing, environment/sanitation, skills development and cottage industries.
  • To collaborate with the government, voluntary agencies and People’s institutions in programmes of relief, development and networking based on accepted social values.
  • To develop methodologies for monitoring rural and urban community development progrmmes.
  • To offer consultancy services on matters relating to organization and development, planning, execution and evaluation of projects, market studies and accounting.
  • To promote / undertake empirical research studies on problems relating to the development of the weaker sections of the society.
 
Development Promotion Group (DPG) is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) from India working in 482 villages and 6 slums with 75000 families across 3 Southern Indian States in partnership with local NGOs and Community Based Organisations (CBOs).
